Department Profile:

Politics can be portrayed as the mirror of a particular state as it reflects the reality of citizens' political consciousness and progressivism; social diversity and inclusiveness, and economic prosperity and prospects of that country. To understand the nerve of the politics of any State, a systematic, sincere, and consistent thrust is required to study the numerous theories of Political Science and how these theories are intrinsically related to the ground reality. The Department of Political Science of Birangana Sati Sadhani Rajyik Viswavidyalaya was established in 2023 to devote with a similar vision and committed to achieve all the goals and objectives envisaged New Education Policy 2020. At present the department is offering MA program in Political Science and also has opened up Ph.D. Program for engaging extensive research on the unexplored areas related to this discipline.

Vision of the Department:

The department seeks to prepare the young mind as a "POLITICAL" being through rigorous academic exercise, extensive and innovative research work, and developing persistent relationships with the social reality through intensive debate and discussion with the masses. The acronym “POLITICAL” signifies Professional, Open minded, Logical, Inclusive, Trustworthy, Innovative, Competent, and Auspicial Laureate.

The department seeks to plant three values in the mind of the young scholar, i.e. P.H.D. Here P- signifies Patience for learning and understanding the various concepts, ideas, narratives and nuances of Political Science. H- indicates Honesty in doing research while following research ethics. Finally, D- refers to Dedication to achieve destiny. The department seeks to enhance employability in the region while emphasizing on cognitive, meta-cognitive and life skills and to prepare them for competitive examinations.

Mission of the Department:

• To develop innovative initiatives for pursuing academic excellence in teaching, research and extension activities.
• To create awareness in society about various rights, liberties and freedom that individuals enjoy and to create future citizens with moral commitment to these value.
• To develop teaching and training in professional requirements of the subjects so that the students might perform competent roles as teachers and researcher, Administrator, Legislator and professional in politics in general.
• To develop capacity of critical inquiry, critical thinking and logical standing of contemporary national and global political issues.
