National Conference for Young Researchers

A national conference for young researchers was organised by the Department of Sociology in collaboration with the Research and Development Cell, Birangana Sati Sadhani Rajyik Vishwavidyalaya, on 16 February 2024. The theme of the conference was “Contemporary Trends in Social Science Research”, which was inaugurated by Honourable Vice Chancellor Prof. Jyoti Prasad Saikia. Three keynote lectures were delivered by Prof Rabin Deka of Tezpur University, Prof. Kedilezo Kikhi of North-Eastern Hill University and Dr Chandan Kumar Sarma of Dibrugarh University. Altogether, twenty-nine research papers were presented in the technical sessions where resource persons from different parts of the country were present. Resource persons Dr Abdul Qaiyum, Azim Premji University, Bangalore, Dr Amiya Kumar Das, Tezpur University, Dr Bikash Deka, Dibrugarh University, Dr Prafulla Nath, Assam University (Diphu Campus), Dr Pranjal Protim Barua, Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Assam, Dr Tarun Gogoi, Sankardeva Mahavidyalaya, Dr Sumit Kumar Sarma, H.P.B. Girls College, Golaghat deliberated upon various aspects of social science research in contemporary times. The plenary lecture session was chaired by Dr Debabhusan Borah, coordinator of IQAC, Birangana Sati Sadhani Rajyik Vishwavidyalaya. Honourable Vice Chancellor Prof Jyoti Prasad Saikia lauded the initiative of the Department of Sociology for organising an intellectually engaging event, which was convened by Dr Partha Pratim Borah, Associate Professor and Head In-Charge, Department of Sociology and Dr Tapan Saikia, Associate Professor, Department of Sociology, Birangana Sati Sadhani Rajyik Vishwavidyalaya.
